beetle dream

Anyone who knows me at any sort of depth knows that I love insects, beetles and phasmids especially. I just think they're so fascinating. I remember reading that you dream about whatever is on your mind the most, so I suppose it makes sense that last night I had an elaborate dream about beetles. I was in my room, except there was a big tree in the room. It was one of those African Savannah type of trees, which doesn't even make sense because the beetles I was dreaming about were native to South America. Anyways, it was growing from the center of my room and branching all over the ceiling, with leaves weeping and hanging down. And it was filled with adult Dynastes Hercules, specifically the male ones with the yellow and black color form. They were flying everywhere and buzzing so loudly (those fuckers sound like helicopters when they fly), and I remember being so afraid because of the number of beetles. They were everywhere including on the floor, and I was moving like a ninja trying to avoid crushing one in what would be a disgusting explosion of bug guts. I found a dead one, and I put it in my drawer and explained to my mom that I wanted it to be framed and pinned (over the noise of thousands of fat beetles crashing into my walls). And then I sat in my bed and looked up, and just watched them crawl and climb around clumsily. It was pretty relaxing, aside from the noise. Probably not coincidentally, I was looking at a breeder of Dynastes Hercules grubs just the other day and thinking about buying them. I'm glad I had a dream instead of a nightmare for once.
